of Issue (May 28, 1999) On May 28, 1998 Pakistan responded to India's nuclear test and joined the prestigious club of seven nuclear powers. It is one of the most momentous days in the history of Pakistan.This feat was the result of dynamic political and scientific leadership. These tests invigorated the national faith in the future and belied rumor mongers. It raised Pakistan strategic status in the comity of nations and signified the principle of self reliance. The nuclear test enabled Pakistan to attain strategic parity with India and helped to internationalize the core dispute of Jammu & Kashmir. |
